26-Year-Old Busted Driving Stolen Car On Long Island, Police Say

A report of a stolen car ended with a 26-year-old man in handcuffs on Long Island.

Riverhead Town Police were alerted at around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 30, that a vehicle stolen from Nassau County was believed to be entering Riverhead.

Nearly 10 minutes later, patrol units spotted the 2006 Dodge Charger stopped on Route 58 near Mill Road, according to police.

Officers arrested the driver, Bhajenauth Ramsaroop, of Jamaica, Queens, without incident on multiple charges, including:

  • Third-degree criminal possession of stolen property (felony)
  • Second-degree obstructing governmental administration (misdemeanor)
  • Numerous vehicle and traffic violations

Ramsaroop was expected to be arraigned in Riverhead Justice Court on Monday, May 1.
